Kensington Park, Fairway Oaks & Oakdale, Savannah

Kensington Park - An established neighborhood with ranch style homes accented by a street lined tree canopy.  Kensington Park is close to Bacon Park Golf Course, hospitals (Candler and Memorial), and the Truman Parkway.  Kensington Park also has its own pool that is open to her residents and their guest.

Fairway Oaks is conveniently centrally located just like Kensington Park, close to both Candler and Memorial Hospitals, I-16 and Truman Parkway. Living here you can be Downtown or Southside within minutes.

Fairway Oaks homes were mostly built between the late 1940's and the early 1960's. Most of her homes have hardwood floors throughout and brick construction. Architectural styles in the neighborhood vary but are predominately Ranch-style or Split-level in the Colonial Revival, Contemporary and Modern styles.

Fairway Oaks properties generally come with large, well-landscaped lots (many of the residents are avid gardeners) with generously-sized front and back yards accented by beautiful old-growth trees. The popular Bacon Park Golf Course is adjacent to Fairway Oaks. Golfers are particularly keen on the neighborhood as a result: many properties’ back yards overlook the well-maintained and attractively designed golf course.

Fairway Oaks was designed with gently curving streets, cozy cul-de-sacs and a few divided roadways with tree-dotted medians, breaking away from the traditional grid-like pattern of streets.

The Fairway Oaks Association, one of the older homeowner associations in Savannah, remains very active within the neighborhood and the local community at large.  Association representatives regularly attend city planning meetings, send out newsletters, plan holiday events, and work to preserve the character of the neighborhood.
Residents in Fairway Oaks range from retirees who have raised families in the neighborhood and settled in happily for decades to brand new families with children, and they all tend to be very friendly, helpful, and welcoming to new neighbors. There is a very active Neighborhood Watch and the neighborhood has no cut through streets as they were sealed off in the 1980's, which joggers, walkers, bicyclists and parents appreciate.

Oakdale is another small neighborhood in midtown that has the conveniences of Kensington Park and Fairway Oaks.  A little relatively unknown  neighborhood outside of Savannah that locals love.  It is bordered by Kensington Park, Fairway Oaks and Habersham Woods with quite streets and mature lots.
